1. Getting vaccinated is safe and effective. Vaccines can protect males and females against diseases (including cancers) caused by HPV and the vaccines are given in three shots over six months; it is important to get all three doses.
2. If you are sexually active, using latex condoms or a dental dam (with oral sex) the right way every time you have sex can lower your chances of getting HPV.
