HIV infection is highest among Mississippi teens ages 13-19. So what can you do to protect yourself? Know your status, use condoms consistently and get tested regularly if you’re sexually active.
HIV is passed from one person to another through blood-to-blood contact or by unprotected sexual activity. In addition, infected pregnant women can pass HIV to their babies during pregnancy or delivery, as well as through breast feeding.
People become infected with HIV from these bodily fluids:
blood, semen, pre-cum, vaginal fluids and breast milk.
