What is it?
The pullout method is an ineffective form of birth control in which the man removes his penis from the vagina before ejaculating.
How does it work?
The pullout method requires the penis to be removed from the vagina before the man ejaculates. The goal is to avoid sperm from entering the vagina, however, it can be difficult to know exactly when ejaculation will occur.
How effective is it?
The pullout method is the least effective form of birth control. It fails one out of four times and doesn’t protect against STDs or HIV. It is extremely risky because it is hard to time ejaculation, and small amounts of sperm can be found in pre-cum which is not prevented using the pullout method. Condoms are always a better choice.
