If you have or think you may have and STD infection, you should see your healthcare provider for testing immediately. There are numerous STDs both curable (chlamydia, gonorrhea, or syphilis) and incurable (HIV and herpes). Your healthcare provider can answer all your questions concerning them. It is up to you to take responsibility for your continued sexual health.
If you do not have a provider, you can go to any health care clinic or the state department of health for testing. Usually, you do not need parental permission to get STD testing unless a specific location or provider wants parental consent for whatever reason. A good resource in the Jackson area is Unacare Health Center at 258 East Fortification Street. Unacare is open M-F from 8-4:30. In addition, Unacare is also the location of the new teen clinic designed specifically for teens and teen related issues. The teen clinic is open M-W 4:30-7, walk-ins very welcome.
